The museum is located in the West Settlers Historic District (settled in 1894) in Delray Beach. The two-story building is the former residence of Delray’s most prominent black educator and community leader, Solomon D. Spady. A very special setting for any event — your group will be surrounded by historic photographs and artifacts.

The West Settlers’ District is the site of the first African-American settlement in Delray Beach.

Across the street from the museum is the LaFrance Hotel (1949), formerly the only hotel in Delray Beach that welcomed African-Americans during segregation. Mount Olive Baptist Church, the oldest Christian church in Delray Beach (1894) and the third oldest church in Palm Beach County is also nearby.
